After Esslinger had shaped the house style into the 1980s, including a major success with the one-hand faucet Allegroh, the Phoenix Design studio took up the creative reins. Known for its minimalist approach, the Stuttgart studio has authored designs that include taps and mixers like Arco and Talis. International star designers Philippe Starck and Antonio Citterio have also contributed complete bathroom collections. But long before the onset of the designer age, the company was already an innovator. At the end of the 1920s it developed a metal hand-shower with a porcelain grip that became a bestseller. In the 1960s Hansgrohe came out with Selecta, the first hand-shower with adjustable jets. A more recent development is the advanced showerhead Raindance, a hand-shower with a much wider head diameter but shorter handle. It forms part of a complete shower system that uses the latest air whirling techniques to offer a continuous spectrum from a hard jet massage to soft rain.
