Siegfried Bensinger

interior and furniture designer, Buchholz / Lower Saxony

An important formative period was 1977 to 1988, when he was the executive interior designer in the editorial department of Schöner Wohnen, a trendsetting magazine at the time for which Peter Maly and Rolf Heide also worked. Many of Bensinger’s furniture designs stemmed from projects he had conceived for private homes. His designs still benefit today from this direct connection to everyday use. Bensinger is a multitalent.

During his training as cabinet-maker and studies at the Werkkunstschule (School of Arts & Crafts) in Darmstadt, he also began playing saxophone in professional bands. He worked as interior designer in various furniture stores and then became product manager at the Deutsche Werkstätten in Munich (which was taken over during that period by WK Wohnen). All the while, he was also active as a freelance designer.
