Mein_Back

manufacturer: Magazin

One look at the grey latticework crates is enough to summon the aroma of freshly baked bread and rolls, because these lightweight yet stable containers are used everywhere in bakeries (and restaurants) to deliver baked goods. Turned 90 degrees, this commonplace transport container becomes the basic element in an inexpensive shelving system. Used in this new way, the humble crate suddenly exhibits amazing qualities in terms of stability and quick assembly. Mein_ Back can be put together without tools. To connect the crates a profile is simply clamped on, which also functions as a flat shelf surface. At the sides, U-shaped clips connect additional crates onto the vertical unit. If desired, Mein_ Back can be placed on casters or even bent into a curve. The ready-made bookshelf, which also resonates with faint echoes of the orange-crate fad of the refractory 1960s, proves wonderfully suitable for transport and moves – which is hardly surprising given its origins. It can also be used as a room divider and, because it is weather- resistant, as an outdoor balcony shelf. Once installed, the modular system hardly betrays its pedestrian background, especially in its “frosted white” translucent version.
