EO
manufacturer: interlübke
design: Wulf Schneider 2001
At the end of the 1990s, Interlübke was looking for a new direction when Helmut Lübke took the rudder again and put the company back on a design-oriented course. The key product proclaiming a new start was Wulf Schneider’s cabinet program EO, a global first that created a huge buzz at the major furniture shows. Based on a square grid and outfitted with glass doors, the system is lit from within and can change colour at the touch of a button. This makes it the first piece of furniture that cannot only be altered according to mood but can itself create various ambiences. The combination of colour and music further enhances this effect. The psychedelic trend of the 1960s had now arrived by way of cuttingedge technology in the contemporary living room. EO directly fuses the functional with the emotional. The basic idea behind this avant-garde furniture concept is additive colour mixing. Inside are red, green and blue LED lamps operated via remote control. Virtually every conceivable colour can be achieved by changing the proportions of the primary colours. Five favourite colours can be saved. Available with either doors or drawers, hanging on the wall or standing on the floor, the therapeutic lighted cabinet is extremely adaptable and can also be used as a room divider – with or without light diodes.
